Tall Red Earthenware Clay Vase
DESCRIPTION:
This is a tall red earthenware clay vase made on the island on Lombok east of Bali, Indonesia. The earthenware clay is dug locally by women and has different qualities in each village. The rich brownish red color becomes that way when fired. The black coloring is the result of carbonization of the clay body and is characteristic of pottery from the East Lombok village of Masbagik.
